If you want to learn How to Use a Pendulum, here you will find detailed information on what you need, with step-by-step instructions, demonstration videos, and references, etc.

Below is a video example of a consultation I did using a pendulum (my necklace and pendant — which is not highly recommended) before starting this article (the text continues right after):

Let’s go step by step, calmly!

This is a very simple and powerful tool. At the beginning, we need to follow some steps and practice until it responds clearly, but shortly after, we can use it in daily life in a simple and easy way!

Note: Although I teach the essential basics here, this article does not replace a radiesthesia course, ok? Courses on this topic also usually teach how to use charts for remote treatment, which will also not be covered here.

Radiesthesia?

We all have the sensitivity to perceive the radiations present in our lives. Through radiesthesia, with a proper instrument (in this case, the pendulum), we can decode them.

The name “Radiesthesia” comes from:

  • radius = “ray”, “radiation”
  • aesthesis = “sensitivity”

In practice, it means “sensitivity to rays/radiation.”

Radiesthesia is the technology behind how the pendulum’s movement works.

Initially, the practice was called rabdomancy, which means “a method of divination using a wand,” and there are records of its use as far back as ancient Egypt. However, radiesthesia is an ancient science of energy measurement, not divination.

For a long time, it has been used by people of all (or no) beliefs, including to find water sources in land using forked sticks.

Radiesthetic Instruments

The instruments used in this field are:

  • Pendulum;
  • Aura meter or aurameter: Used to measure aura layers. It is held in the hands about 2 meters from the person, moving closer while asking questions. The strongest movement indicates the answer;
  • Dowsing rod: Can be a forked stick, wire, or metal. Usually used to find water veins, minerals, or the best place for construction. Good for use while moving across land;
  • Dual rod: Small rods held one in each hand, which open or close according to the answer. Commonly considered a type of dowsing rod.

Here, we will focus only on the pendulum.

Who is a Radiesthetist?

“A radiesthetist works with their sensitivity to capture and decode information from Earth’s energies, identifying the main causes of diseases, limitations, and imbalances.” — Prof. Cátia Bazzan.

How the Pendulum Works

The pendulum is a tool used in radiesthesia to perform analyses, evaluate causes, and carry out checks, potentially indicating imbalances and root causes of issues. Through it, the manifestation of your Higher Self can be read. It is not a tool for divination.

The pendulum reacts to a psionic command. Psionic energy can be defined as the energy emitted or received by the nervous system, especially the brain, capable of generating psi phenomena. In other words, it is your energetic field as a radiesthetist that captures the information, responds, and then your nervous system transmits it to the pendulum.

When using the pendulum to ask questions, we are consulting our Higher Self — and it is this Higher Self (which is us) that responds.

What is the Higher Self?

The Higher Self is you, but in your essence at a higher level, with access to universal knowledge — such as the Akashic records. These include all information about our lives across all time. It also has access to spiritual guides, mentors, etc.

This way, we can ask ourselves any question, allowing the Higher Self, which has access to everything, to bring us the answer.

Overview of Pendulum Use

We can ask any question about ourselves. However, understand that the Higher Self cannot exactly predict the future, because we all have free will and can change our path among infinite possibilities at any moment.

With permission requested beforehand, we can also ask about and learn information and the vibrational frequencies of other people.

You can see a practical example in the following short video I made:

However, it is important to note that: phones and colors affect measurement accuracy, as well as using an object that is always exposed, such as your pendulum. I explain more throughout the article.

Ideally, you should ask these 4 questions before requesting an answer:

  1. Do I have permission?
  2. Could I?
  3. Should I?
  4. Is it for the highest good?

How to Use the Pendulum Correctly

Although many say that anything that can hang freely can be used as a pendulum, there are important points to consider.

It’s important that it can move easily with the energy flow from the Higher Self through us, and also:

  • Plan your questions beforehand;
  • Clean the pendulum and environment before and after, and/or say the radiesthetist’s prayer;
  • Face away from the North during use;
  • Be at an empty table, preferably wooden;
  • Use blank paper if taking notes;
  • Stay away from phones and electronics;
  • Keep calm with an empty mind after asking;
  • When measuring something remotely, visualize it;
  • Ask permission when working with others;
  • Do not practice more than 15 minutes per day.

⚠️ *Important: If you are emotionally involved in a personal issue, ensure you can remain neutral. Otherwise, ask someone else to do the reading.

What Can I Use as a Pendulum

For Initial Practice

For beginners:

  1. A necklace and pendant;
  2. A needle and thread;
  3. A small stone tied to a string.

However, these may lack precision.

Ideal Pendulum

Experts recommend having a pendulum exclusively for your use, stored wrapped in black cloth, preferably made of wood with a cotton string.

Wooden Pendulums

  • Without lead: lighter, wider movement;
  • With lead: heavier, more stable.

Pendulums of Other Materials

  • Crystals: sensitive but require cleaning;
  • Orgonite: less recommended;
  • Metal: used for minerals and water detection.

How to Choose

Choose intuitively — notice sensations when selecting.

How to Consecrate the Pendulum

This is a process of connecting the pendulum as an extension of yourself.

  1. Clean it (if crystal);
  2. Energize with the four elements;
  3. Hold it and set intention;
  4. Touch the third eye;
  5. Touch the heart;
  6. Say: “It is done.”

How to Program the Pendulum

The programming is actually of your mind.

  • Still = no answer;
  • Forward/back = neutral;
  • Clockwise = yes;
  • Counterclockwise = no;

Repeat commands 21 times while moving it.

Cleaning and Protection

Clean before and after

  1. Hold it;
  2. Pass your hand along your arm to it;
  3. Close fingers;
  4. Release energy.

What Is the Pendulum Used For?

  • Calibrate your vibrational frequency;
  • Identify stones;
  • Confirm feelings;
  • Read chakras;

How to Clean the Pendulum

Wood

Rub with black cloth.

Crystal

  • Water;
  • Black cloth;
  • Selenite.

Conclusion

Knowing how to use a pendulum gives you a simple and powerful tool to clarify personal matters. If you want, you can get the book on Amazon here.

Practice consistently, and over time, it will respond more clearly and naturally.
